This program will be provided to the first 3 students who are among their top 15 choices in the 2021 YKS and placed in the program in question, provided that they register definitively, on condition that their general grade point average does not fall below 2.5 out of 4 or 65 out of 100 during the compulsory preparatory class and undergraduate education period (4 years, maximum 5 years for students registered in the double major program) 850 TL per month (for 12 months) "YÖK Scholarship". The annual increase rate of the "YÖK Scholarships" to be given each year will be determined by the Higher Education Executive Board. Other scholarships and loans received by students who are entitled to receive "YÖK Scholarships" continue during their education. Agricultural Economics is an applied branch of science that seeks solutions to agricultural problems using the basic principles of economics.
Agricultural Economists need to know both technical issues of agriculture such as field crops, horticultural crops, animal husbandry and evaluation of agricultural products, as well as topics of economics such as planning, management, financing, accounting, business administration, marketing agricultural policy, agricultural law, entrepreneurial economics, rural sociology, rural development, rural industry, agricultural publication. In addition, Agricultural Economists need to deal with plans and programs implemented by the state in order to develop the agricultural sector, improve the living standards of farmers, protect consumers from excessive price increases, and increase the export of agricultural products.

Scholarships
Students who place their first 15 choices in undergraduate programs focused on basic sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics), agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, earth sciences and animal husbandry, which are determined as strategic fields by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), and who are placed in the first 3 of the relevant programs are given monthly scholarships for the duration of their education.

The proposal for the establishment of the Department of Agricultural Economics and its major branches was examined at the Higher Education General Assembly meeting dated 07.12.2007 and was deemed appropriate in accordance with article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547, amended by Law No. 2880. The Department of Agricultural Economics is located within the Iğdır Faculty of Agriculture. The number of graduates is 219 and the number of active students is 117.
